♥ i heart macro ♥ – Fancy Daisies

Daisy Bouquet

Its time for another ♥ I Heart Macro Sunday! ♥

I made a simple bouquet of Shasta daisies and astilbes for our dining room table.  They looked so lovely that I had to go fetch my camera.

Featured Artist

Catching Up

This post will be a little of this and that.  I’ve had a lot going on in my life and haven’t posted here in a while.  I’m giving myself a kick in the fanny to keep moving forward.

Kristi Bowman Designs

If you follow me on Facebook, you already know that I adore using the copper and brass clay components that Kristi Bowman sells in her Etsy store, Dream Some.  I made 3 pairs of earrings with her copper clay charms for the Muffin Tin Challenge.

I’m excited to share that I was the featured artist on Kristi’s blog this week.  I hope you’ll go give her some blog love; maybe even leave a comment.  Definitely click on the links to her ArtFire or Etsy shops.

Autumn Girl is my newest pair of earrings, utilizing Kristi’s components.  The copper leaves are just so cool and they pair perfectly with the brown jasper and the diagonally strung, molted green glass cubes.   These earrings could be worn all the time, in many settings:  work, weekend, dinner out etc.

Kelp

I spotted this “kelp bouquet” on the beach, a few weeks ago.  The four different colors of kelp, all in one group, delighted me.

Green Orchid With White Edging

Its time for another ♥ I Heart Macro Sunday! ♥

My computer has a serious virus and it’s in the shop.  They were unable to remedy the issues, so they have to back everything up, wipe the disc and then reinstall all the programs.  So not happy about this!

I had a couple of weeks worth of macro shots on my computer, but they are not available to me now.  I’m currently using my husband’s computer.  I do have a number of macro shots from early spring that I had saved to his computer and that’s what I’m sharing today.  This orchid macro was taken in the Botanical Building in San Diego’s Balboa Park.

Beach Log with Lichen

Its time for another ♥ I Heart Macro Sunday! ♥

My husband and I visited the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge  this week.  My Monday Meanderings post will be about our trip.  But for today, I wanted to share a close up photo I took of a log on the beach there.  It was covered with bright yellow lichen and had a great crusty texture that was fun to photograph, (the texture is even more visible if you click on the picture to enlarge it).

♥ i heart macro ♥ Red Pepper with Green Stem

Macro in the Kitchen

Its time for another ♥ I Heart Macro Sunday! ♥
There is a lot of beauty and wonder right in your own kitchen.  I grabbed a red pepper out of the fridge for today’s macro shots.

long green curving stem atop a red pepperThis comical, long green stem looks like a periscope and the end reminds me of an eye.  It makes me chuckle.

green stem of a red pepperWhile I was trying to position the pepper, it flipped on its side and I liked that angle, too.

bumpy top of a red pepperThe undulating curves at the base of the stem fascinated me, so I played around in Photoshop with it, emphasizing the curves and making it more abstract.

Bead Table Wednesday: Earrings

Earring Mania!

I’m kind of on an earring kick lately.  It is largely motivated by all the cool copper clay components I have been getting from Dream Some.  They are kind of addictive, like chips or popcorn!  Here’s what’s on my bead table today.

BTW June 1st 2011The earrings on the left are made with wire wrapped jasper, brass chain and “pretzel” beads from Unicorn Beads.  In the middle are copper flower components, from Dream Some, that I plan to combine with the Brazilian amazonite rondelles.  And on the right is a pair of earrings that I am working on now; made with malachite and copper leaves, from Dream Some.

Speaking of Dream Some: I recently sold this pair of earrings, with Dream Some components.

And these earrings were added to my shop recently.  The have  paisley textured flower charms from Dream Some,  paired with lampwork glass beads.

I encourage you to visit the BTW Flickr group and  see what is happening on other bead tables.

Our house is surrounded by woods on 3 sides, which means an abundance of ferns.  I love their curled tips in the spring.
